·The Iron Wolves·

<<IW-RP>>
Plot 43, Ward 3, The Goblet (Large)

With a roster of character-types from all walks of life, The Iron Wolves <<IW-RP>> has garnered a reputation of being not only a tightly-knit group of mercenaries, but a company that can get the job done, no matter what that entails. From the non-combative HQ personnel that helps ensure that the inner workings of the place where many a Wolf rests their head, to the most morally gray and battle-hardened, all are welcome to find refuge and coin within the Company's Halls. We are a casual-medium RP oriented FC located on Balmung, and we have much to offer our membership both IC and OOC. With a custom RP Event System (dice-system) that encompasses elements of combat, non-combat, and the all around odd scenarios that might take place here and there, we believe in dice being something that can help drive story forward. We are a tightly-knit community of adults with both an active discord / in-game presence that regularly coordinates PvE Content as a group, as well as engages in other games outside of Final Fantasy XIV.

Who are we? What are we about?

The <<IW-RP>> Community is, at it's core, a place in which there has been a mission to create a space of togetherness, as well as a place where everyone can feel like they belong. Whether your chataracter is a combatant or not, whether they are on-server or not, whether they are already in an FC or not, a place can be found, friendships forged and stories interwoven with the addition of jobs and events that aid in furthering personal character stories.----
✦ Our community is laid-back and casual, with a heavier focus on RP - and sometimes PVE/PVP.
✦ IW-RP is an adult oriented FC/Community, therefore we only accept members who are 21+.✦ We strive to maintain a safe space for all. We do not allow racism, sexism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, or general intolerances in this FC/Community.✦ Please see our Community and FC Rules below.

What are our Free Company's features?

  • A friendly, laid-back, mature community of adults willing to team up and help out. As a community, we strive for inclusivity and that everyone feels welcome. Many players’ main characters are in this Free Company along with alts, and many are more than willing to help with PvE content of all kinds (Treasure Maps, duties, roulettes, glamour grinding, etc.). New and old players are welcome.

  • A custom and straightforward die-based RP Event System. Our in-house RP Event System is a modified and simplified version of the 5e system, though no prior experience with any tabletop systems is required. We do our very best to ensure that players are able to reflect their character's skills and unique experiences without the system being overwhelming or imbalanced. For Combatants, characters chose from three roles (Tank, Healer, DPS), pick combat skills and non-combat skills, then select several feats for added customization. To ensure each character has a unique spin, players and DMs work together to construct a custom feat unique to that character. For Non-Combatants, we understand battle is not for you! While your sheet will not be the same combatants, this will be made up for by the availability of Extra Skilled - meaning your character will have six non-combative skills instead of the three that Combatants have.

  • A rotating Job Board of several custom contracts. The missions on IW-RP's Job Board have scaling difficulty based on FFXIV's Hunt System and include both combat-focused and non-combat assignments. The contracts are all written by IW-RP members, and act as prompts for DMs to use to create their event. These missions are usually 2-3 players and 1 DM, and can last 2-4 hours. More information can be found here.

  • An Oboarding System in-discord to help new members feel welcome, and to help them customize their experience to what they want to participate in. Don't like NSFW content? That's okay! You can opt into and out of channels at your leisure. Don't want to see spoilers? Same thing!

  • A brief, OOC mentorship program for new FC members. New members to our community are OOCly assigned an Officer to show them around the property, answer questions, help them get involved in roleplay for the first time, and get set up for their first job from the Job Board so that they understand the combat system.

  • Are you new to RP, or just getting back into it after an extended break? That's perfectly okay, we all have to start somewhere, right? Our Community discord has a Roleplay Helpdesk , a Lore Corner, and a lovely group of people that can help with any questions that might be had.

  • Are you getting into mods? Need help? Well, we've got a Mods Helpdesk for that, too, and a few members who are down to help however necessary to get you started in making your characters closer to the vision you have for them.

  • A Large-size plot designed for roleplay inside and outside, with additional private quarters designed for Free Company roleplay use. The Iron Wolves Headquarters is located in the Goblet (Ward 3, Plot 43). Additionally, players have the option to create their own private chambers for personal use.

What sort of members are we ICly looking for?

  • Personalities and histories from all walks of life. We have no requirements that characters must be mercenaries, gray morality, or even combat-based — if their personality might fit, we can probably figure out a way to work them in.

  • Mostly lore-abiding. Some bending of the FFXIV lore is fine, so long as it is adequately justified by their history, and that it does not break immersion for other players. We only ask that you don't break it completely.

What sort of players are we looking for?

  • Interested in roleplay as a focus and character development.

  • Active, laidback, and community-oriented.

  • Alts are allowed.

  • Sprouts and veterans alike are welcome.

How do I submit an application to join?

Please visit our application page. Don't forget to read the rules!

Iron Wolves Headquarters, as well as other establishments associated, employ a wide variety of wards meant for the safety of all employees. These include in various places:

  • Aether Nullification Wards - These encompass the infirmary, and are in use by activation only. This will usually cancel out magical effects in the event something goes wrong.

  • Alarm Wards - These encompass the doors, windows and the infirmary section of the Inn. These wards are always running. In the event they go off, upper management is notified.

  • Anti-Scry Wards - These encompass the entirety of the Inn, from the front yard to the back end. These wards prevent the use of magical spying.

  • Dampening Wards - These are located in all training areas of the Inn to ensure no lethal damage takes place. They can be deactivated upon request.

  • Force Dispersal Wards - These aid in retaining the foundation of the Inn should it come under attack.

  • Some personal chambers are warded much more heavily than others, for various reasons. Should you want this for your own chambers, please speak with either Ia or Shi'anla.

The <IW-RP> Community Rules

Community Rules apply to both in-game and our community's discord.
Failure to comply with these rules will either result in a warning or, depending on the severity, dismissal from the Company in-game/removal from the Community Discord

🐺Community Respect🐺

  • Bigotry is not welcome in this space. Absolutely no: Ableism, homophobia, racism, transphobia, or any intolerance that can be considered hateful. This community is a pro-LGBTQ+ / pro-PoC space. In the event that you are contacted or made aware that you have done something that infracts upon this, and it was a genuine accident as we know this does happen, please take the time to think about the warning given and apologize where and how necessary - and please make a good-faith effort to improve and do better. All of us make mistakes, all of us have room to grow. However, multiple infractions of this, or arguments against a warning, will result in immediate removal.

  • Disrespect among members will not be tolerated. You are responsible for your behavior, and while we understand there may be certain instances in which folks lose their cool, it is on you to remove yourself from any poor situation and/or approach a conflict maturely and rationally. Generally, it is always a good idea to take at least thirty minutes away from your computer if you are heated so that you do not say or do something in the heat of the moment. No one deserves to be disrespected.

  • In this same vein, please be aware that tone does not translate well to text. It is incredibly easy to read something and take it one way when a player may have meant it another way, or was attempting to make a joke. Please be aware of the things that you type, how they might read, and if you are attempting to make a joke with someone you are unsure will respond well, either don't make that joke or make use of /j at the end of what you say. (For /joke). Be considerate. Be kind.

  • Seek Conflict Resolution. If a serious issue takes place between you and another Free Company member that cannot be resolved between yourselves, please reach out to the officer core with appropriate timestamped screenshots so that we can investigate. These situations will be handled on a case-by-case basis.

  • We have several players that use mods, and we have several players who do not. Respect one another in this regard, and do not talk down to those that either do or don't use them. It's a personal choice, and doesn't hurt you.

  • Additionally: If you do you use modded outfits, to the best of your capabilities, have your unmodded outfit similar/close to respect those who don't use mods.

🐺Consent & Communication🐺

  • Age restriction: IW-RP is an 21+ community, and we do not allow minors in this space. Period.

  • Mature themes: This FC often explores dark and mature themes, given that they are a mercenary company. We do, though, understand that some themes might touch upon things which trigger a negative response in some. Please be aware that you, the player, may opt-out of any RP scenario or event at any time if you are uncomfortable. No questions asked. We also require All DMs for the FC to place content warnings either in the description of their jobs/events, or when such things begin to crop up in such events.

  • Speak up: We actively encourage all of our members to speak up if they are uncomfortable, and to please reach out to an officer as soon as possible.

  • Read the room: Players are expected to read the room and ensure their conversation topics are acceptable. If asked to change the subject, please do so.

  • Use the proper channels: Venting, mature conversation, heavy topics, and real-life politics should not be discussed in the Free Company chat in-game. Conversations regarding these subjects should be restricted to their proper channels on our community Discord. We ask that players make a good faith effort to keep conversations to their correct Discord channels across the board, especially NSFW content. Sometimes things spill over, and that's alright. Usually, an officer will chime in to move to another channel.

🐺Prohibited Content🐺

Players are expected to Follow the Final Fantasy XIV ToS, including any prohibited content listed therin. In Short: If you are uncertain whether it could be considered disrespectful or harmful, do not post it.

  • Absolutely no: Content regarding loli, shota or underage characters in the NSFW channels. If the media in question looks like a CHILD, do not post it. Similarly, we do not allow underage characters in this FC IC.

  • No NSFW Imagery of lalafell is allowed in our discord channels. We are lala friendly, however, given the ambiguity of their in-game models we cannot allow for media of this nature.

  • Absolutely no: Fetishization of marginalized or inappropriate groups.

  • Absolutely no: Glorification of hate groups or visualization of graphic violence towards real-life people and animals.

  • Doxxing, or public distribution of dangerous or otherwise identifying information about a player (e.g. their home location or phone number) posted with or without consent is strictly prohibited on all channels and will be deleted for player safety. Information posted by players that may be considered similarly too identifying for themselves will also be deleted for player safety. Officers may allow the item in question to be reposted with identifying information censored.

🐺Roleplay Etiquette🐺

  • IC does not mean OOC. Characters can argue, fight, romance, and anything else under the sun, but these actions should be held separate from OOC actions. Character actions should not be held against their player, except in instances of rule-breaking, immersion problems, consent violations, and other serious infractions that should be reported to the admin and that affect social roleplay as a whole.

  • If you are going through a spell where seperating IC/OOC is difficult (And it happens to all of us), please know that the best course of action is to take a break from RP. Taking breaks is something that everyone needs to do now and again, and officers are more than willing to help your character have IC justifications for leaving for a time, and can help you transition back in once you're ready.

  • Don’t metagame. Your character should not have any special or extended knowledge about any other characters or situations that they did not realistically learn firsthand. Your character cannot have a special trinket on them that conveniently will help them in an RP situation if they don’t carry that sort of item on them ordinarily, or have prior knowledge that they should bring something like it along. Your character should not have special skills or knowledge that they would not realistically have been trained in or come across.

  • Don’t godmode. This means you cannot automatically assume your character succeeds an action that involves or affects other characters. Roleplay posts that other characters are affected by should generally take a non-assuming, “my character is trying to do x” approach so that others may intervene or roll against it, instead of assuming the character will be successful automatically.

  • To your best ability, use proper grammar, full sentences and third-person narration. We’re not here to grammar police, and have multiple community members with English as a second language.

  • Do not consistently railroad roleplay to be about your character. Roleplay is fun when it’s an equal give-and-take. It’s okay for your character to talk about themselves, but you should not expect to be the main subject of every group roleplay or conversation. Without permission from other players, it is considered railroading and a serious faux pas to do any of the following:

  • entering roleplay with the intention of diverting the current flow of roleplay into discussing something regarding your character

  • repeatedly bringing up, or trying to return the conversation back to, various things about your character or their backstory when they are not relevant

  • being present for, but not engaging in (or simply “going through the motions” for), roleplay unless it is about your character or their backstory

The Job Board

What is a Mercenary Company without the constant ebb and flow of work coming in? Even despite the long-standing contracts, contacts, partners and patrons, the Job Board ensures those looking for more adventure, more experience, and most importantly: More gil can do so with ease.Located in the lobby, right next to the reception desk, many a Wolf can be spotted taking a gander at what's available and signing up for said mission.OOC: Our Company Job Board is located specifically in the <IW-RP> Company discord, and is intended for use by company members and contractors only. The jobs themselves are written and designed for any Aspiring DM/DM in a separate channel by our opt-in writing team of Iron Wolves.▫️ Scaling in various difficulties, the Job Board follows the in-game Hunt System to reflect how much effort is required to complete the mission. Also available are non-combative missions for those that are HQ Personnel, or those who need a break from combative elements.Rewards: Each job comes with a reward, just like normal events - usually in the form of gil, favors, or some form of trade that is equal to the job taken on.Job Ranks: Each job can only be performed by certain ranks, or requires a certain rank to be included, according to the difficulty of the mission. The Job rankings are as follows:

  • C-Rank: Available to any rank, no further rank requirements.

  • B-Rank: Available to any rank. One Iron Wolf or higher required as a participant.

  • A-Rank: Iron+ ranks only.

Steps for signing up for a Job as a Player:

  • Assemble the team. Should players wish to partake in a job, they must voice interest both on the Job Itself in the The Iron Wolves Job Board Forum and the events-discussion channel. This will allow for the highest possible chance of visibility for other players, as well as DMs.

  • All Coordination for the Job will take place through the posted Job on the Job Board.

  • Set the mission. Once you've picked a job, you will need to find a DM. #Events discussion may be used for this, and the DM running the event may either start a public thread for all to participate in to coordinate schedules, or they make use of the forum post for the job itself.

  • Run the gig. The DM and team members meet up in-game to run the event to completion, with an encouraged length of 2-3 hours depending on the job and member schedules.

  • Bring home the bacon. Job rewards are purely IC and can be obtained and distributed between participants following a successful mission complete. Once you're done, post in events-discussion so the job can be removed from the board.

DM Time Specific and DM Randomized Jobs:

  • At times, you will see a DM posting a time and date that they will be running a job. either from the Job Board itself or one they have constructed themselves. To sign up, do as you would for any regular job. Sign your character's name, and checkmark it.

  • DM Specific: If you are a DM that is looking to run a gig that is not on the board, please post your job in the specified channel of the DM-Corner Forum for approval from the admin team. These will be labeled "Time Specific" or "Randomized Assignment".

Special Assignment Jobs

  • Occasionally, jobs will pop up that tie to an overarching FC plot. These are labeled "special assignment." Members are not required to have participated in previous FC plot events in order to take these jobs.

  • S-Rank Jobs: Every so often, there will be an S-Rank listed either on the Job Board, or in the Events Tab. It is important that all members read the assignment, as this particular rank varies in requirements. For Example: One S-Rank may require Mythril Wolves only (For a Classified Mission) while another is open to All Ranks.

Ranking System

🐺Pack Mate (Social/OOC-only)🐺

As the name suggests, this rank is for players that wish to be a part of our FC on an OOC, social level. If at any time a social wishes to join up on an IC level, just let a member of officership know and we can facilitate an IC meeting and the transition from OOC member to IC/OOC member.

🐺Company Personnel🐺

Company Peronnell are our non-combatants. Whether you want to ease your character into being a combatant, or combat RP just isn't for you, this rank will have you working for the Headquarters itself. That being said, Company Personnel are not allowed to go on combat missions. We do alternate between combative and non-combative missions/scenarios, however, so don't be discouraged.

🐺Contractors🐺

The Contractor Role is for those that wish to participate in <<IW-RP>> Membership without actually being a part of the Free Company in-game. These are for those who are either off-server, or those who are already in a Free Company on Balmung, but still wish to RP with us, and participate in missions. We currently have two ranks for this: Contractor - New Blood and Contractor - Iron Wolf. Players will recieve the same benefits (Minus in-game FC perks) as their respective rank, and will follow the same inactivity rules therin.

🐺New Blood🐺

New Blood Wolves are recent recruits and/or initiates to the Iron Wolves. New Bloods' biggest responsibility both ICly and OOCly is to get to know the community, and to help the community get to know them. The rank itself is an IC one, and thus some amount of IC interaction is expected. All New Bloods are placed in our 'Pack System', which acts as a small onboarding process that helps acclimate new (and returning IC) members to the FC and the Community.

Upon being ranked as a New Blood, members get access to the following:

  • In-Game (IC): Access to participating in C-rank jobs and any public FC events

  • In-Game (OOC): The Free Company’s general and various membership benefits, from FC Actions, to Thavnarian Onions, to whatever else you may need help with.

  • Out-of-Game: The FC Discord’s standard channels.

  • Out-of-Game: Additional Discord channels and a photo listing on the membership page of the FC Carrd

Requirements for promotion to Iron Wolf:

  • ● Graduation from the Pack System.

Considerations for demotion/removal from the Free Company:

  • If you do not interact with us or our members for a three-month period, we reserve the right to remove you from our Free Company. Real life taking priority over the Wolves is fine and fair, but we kindly request some manner of OOC communication with the Pack Leaders / Admin Team and are happy to work with and support most problems. Officers may reach out privately to check in on this front prior to any removals. Please note this removal by inactivity approach more or less applies at all rank levels, but is generally approached sympathetically and with repeated attempts for communication.

🐺Iron Wolf🐺

The Iron Wolf rank is the standard membership rank for the Free Company. Iron Wolves are a group of battle-hardened Mercenaries, and reaching this rank means that the member has passed the New Blood probationary period and are considered a recognized and active member in the Free Company, with greater access to a few more amenities both IC and OOC.Iron Wolf is the highest rank that non-combatants may achieve, as the next rank-up is designated for those who have participated in various combat-oriented missions and have the capability to lead them, as well as act as guides in the absence of Leadership for both jobs and higher tiered missions.Upon being ranked as an Iron Wolf, members gain access to the following:

  • In-Game (IC): Access to participating in B-rank jobs; Free Company events intended for Iron+ ranks

  • In-Game (OOC): All Iron Wolves+ have access to the first two tabs of the FC bank; the capability to DM B-rank jobs and below as well as small events (only if you have participated in a few); access to creating a Free Company personal quarters room should they so choose (Officership is happy to pay the gil cost).

  • Out-of-Game: Optional access to join the IW-RP Job Writing Team

Requirements for promotion to Mythril Wolf:

  • There will be a time-gate of at least 5 months to ensure the member is an active participant in the FC and experienced with most of its functions. In the absence of officers, Steel Wolves are who newer or ICly lower-ranking FC members may turn to for general guidance.

  • The member's interactions with others in the FC will also be taken into consideration. If the member isn't participating in many events or jobs, but they are interacting with people on a regular basis, then they can still be someone that other members can turn to or at least be familiar with.

  • Officers want to be assure that the member is able to adhere to the FC rules, which can only be observed over time.

Considerations for demotion/removal from the Free Company:

  • Characters cannot be demoted back to New Blood, except in the instance the character ICly leaves the Free Company and later ICly returns.

🐺Mythril Wolf🐺

Mythril Wolves are considered highly trustworthy within the Iron Wolves' ranks, and carry a certain amount of seniority and authority.Mythrils are your experienced, exemplary, and long-time members. The first choice for high profile missions, these members are also generally considered Mission Leads on jobs they accompany with lower ranks, and are more than familiar with the inner machinations of the Iron Wolves as a whole.Upon promotion to Mythril Wolf, members gain access to the following:

  • In-Game (IC): Access to more Classified missions that will show up periodically on the Job Board.

  • Out of Game (OOC): The option to become a DM for the Free-Company.

Considerations for demotion to Iron Wolf:

  • Significantly bad or repeated poor IC behavior. Remember that IC actions will always yield IC consequences.

🐺Officership🐺

Authority-level rankings both IC and OOC, Officers are considered leadership of the Iron Wolves in various capacities. All IC Officers are OOC Officers, but not all OOC Officers are IC Officers (it is up to the individual). The Officer Core are the folks to go to with any issues or concerns! Our current Officer Core currently includes:

  • Shi'anla Radusk (IC/OOC Company Leader)

  • Fi'ahe Tia / "Ia" (IC Quarter Master/ OOC Senior Officer)

  • Naja Solan (IC Head of the Medical Ward/OOC Officer)

The Officer Core is expanded through a periodic, voluntary application process rather than as a linear promotion. New officers can expect the following:

  • All pre-existing officers must agree unanimously that prospective officer coming is qualified. This means willingness and capacity for conflict resolution, a community-oriented mindset, and no repeated problematic behavior.

  • New officers will be able to choose whether they wish to be an IC Officer as well as OOC, and determine their character's unique title/rank that they will serve as as an IC Officer, in line with their IC specialties.

  • There will be a trial period. Usually anywhere between one to three months.

  • New officers gain access to various elements of the FC over time, instead of straightaway. We do not give immediate access to all and everything immediately, but also do not wish to overwhelm new officers.

  • Stepping Down: Sometimes an officer will step down, regardless of tenure, and that’s just fine! Being in an admin position can be a lot - and if/when that happens, the person in question will have full support from us in the Officer Core and will go back to whichever rank they prefer.

Expectations for conflict resolution include:

  • All OOC issues will be handled under anonymity if an issue arises between a player and an officer.

  • Retaliation of any kind will not be given the chance to breathe light.

  • Issues between players, if Officers become involved, will require screenshots from both parties if what took place did in-game or in-discord. There are no exceptions to this. If you are looking for resolution, all angles need to be seen.

  • All IC issues we be handled IC. Remember that IC =/= OOC. All actions yield consequences and no one exempt from them. This also means that while OOC-only Officers might not be able to help with IC issues, the Officer can probably OOCly pass along the message and get a different IC Officer involved.

Demotion considerations include:

  • Handled on a case by case basis, the considerations for demotions can vary widely, based on the severity of the issues presented. It should also be noted that just because someone is demoted, it does not mean they will be automatically removed from the FC or Community itself.

  • Should something particularly heinous come to light, however, you will not only be removed from the FC but also the community discord as well.
